India's tourism growth slowing The tourism boom in the last quarter of the financial year has affected the tourism sector. The protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act have become a problem on the streets and on environmental pollution, including in Delhi. Many foreign countries have warned citizens about this.
In 2019, 1.10 crore foreigners visited the country. This is a 3.1% increase over the previous year. An increase of 5.2 per cent last year and 14 per cent in 2017, according to data from the Department of Tourism and the Bureau of Immigration.
Revenue from foreign tourists increased by 8.2 per cent this year. It is around Rs 2.2 lakh crore. Revenue growth was 9.6% in 2018 and 15% in 2017. This is the slowest growth in the last 10 years. This is the highest growth of 25.5% achieved in 2011.
