If Indian basketball players get a stint abroad, that will make them better, says Tim Mottin, Hawks coach

He turned Geethu Anna Jose into an international star. Tim Mottin, the coach of Melbourne’s Ringwood Hawks, believes Indian basketball could come up with more players like her.

He had a close look at some of the country’s top female hoopsters during his team’s five-match series against Kerala All-Stars, which concluded here on Sunday.

Drug testing in cricket:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to comply with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)  stating players' privacy. BCCI a private body not funded by the government feels no binding, despite consistent pressure from WADA over the year. The Sports Ministry has ordered the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) to make sure Indian cricketers are subjected to dope-testing, initially In-Competition and then Out-of-Competition testing.

Mary com has switched to her favourite  48 kg from 51 kg category. she will represent India for the 6th time along with Neeraj in 51 kg, Shiksha 54 kg, Sonia Lather 7 kg, Pavitra 60 kg, L.Saritha Devi 64 kg, Lovelina 69 kg, Pooja Rani 75 kg, Sweety Bora 81 kg and Feema in 81 kg representatively. 

Greenfield Stadium Thiruvanathapuram, Confirmed for International Cricket Matches

There is a piece of good news for cricket lovers in the state capital. Giving wings to their dreams of watching their favorite cricketers play live, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) will take over the Greenfield International Stadium in Kariavattom for a stipulated period of time.

If the KCA's takeover of the stadium materializes, Kariavattom will host the international matches to be allotted to the state association. Possibly, the stadium will be the venue for a couple of IPL matches as well in the next edition of the tournament.

 

India Crush South Africa, Enter ICC Champions Trophy 2017 Semi-Final

India rode on Virat Kohli (76*) and Shikhar Dhawan’s (78) 128-run stand to defeat South Africa by eight wickets to seal ICC Champions Trophy 2017 semi-final berth. Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets each as India dismissed South Africa for 191 in a must-win Group B game .

After opting to field, India were left frustrated by the resilience of Quinton De Kock (53) and Hashim Amla (35). However, they suffered a couple of run outs to be reduced from 140/3 to 191 all out in less than 20 overs. India is likely to face Bangladesh in the last four clash.

Mumbai Indians created history by becoming the first team to win the IPL for a record three times, when they beat Rising Pune Supergiant, the team they had lost to thrice earlier in the tournament, by one run in the final in Hyderabad on Sunday night.

Shocking! Usain Bolt loses his Olympic gold

  In a sensational development sprint legend  Usain Bolt lost one of his nine Olympic gold medals Wednesday when the International Olympic Committee stripped Jamaica of their 4x100m relay win at the 2008 Beijing Games after a teammate was caught doping.
The decision which follows the re-testing of hundreds of samples from the Beijing Games, means that Bolt loses one of the three gold medals he won at that Olympics.
