Saudis make record leaps in film industry

Jeddah: Saudi Arabia has made a huge leap in the film industry, earning 700 million riyals in the past 10 months. The film is currently being screened in six cities in Saudi Arabia. It is expected to expand to 10 cities by the end of 2022.

Vox Cinemas currently has a total of 154 screens in 15 theaters across the country. Although movies were banned in Saudi Arabia in the 1980s, Womban made a comeback in April 2018 with the release of the Hollywood film Black Panther.

The General Commission for Audio Visual Media (GCAM) said that 11 million tickets have been sold in Saudi theaters this year alone. Saudi Arabia accounts for more than 55 percent of the Middle East's total revenue.
