Breaking the myth that PSUs - Public Sector undertaking in Kerala are loss-making propositions, a profit-making PSU Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML) has registered a profit of Rs.136 crore this year a new record according to the Kerala government's Industries department's note.
PSUs in Kerala state had incurred a loss of Rs.113 crores last year, at this point in time. Travancore Cochin chemicals(TCC), another PSU which increased its profit share from just Rs.97 lakhs to Rs.18.87 crores during the corresponding period. Travancore Titanium Products(TTP) has recorded Rs.20 crores in the first half of the fiscal period.
These loss-making PSUs could turn to profit-making, as the state government increased its plan-fund, which helped them to generate profit. Kerala government's special drive to modernize PSUs shall help other PSUs to fallow the path. It seems to send positive signals to other industrial sectors.
