After the eradication of polio in the country, the supply of stopped drops begins again. This is due to polio threats from neighbouring countries. On the 19th of this month, the entire country will once again be giving away polio drops. Polio is reported in Pakistan and Afghanistan. On March 27, 2014, the World Health Organization declared India free of polio. But as part of his vigilance, the drops were given for three more years. The last polio outbreak was reported in 2000 in Malappuram district. After 2014, Kerala has reduced the supply of polio drops to one stage.
In 2019, the drug was given exclusively to other states. However, the Central Health Department's polio expert panel, which convened on 28th of last month, decided to give the drops in 2020 and 21 years. The disease was also reported in Nigeria but not reported last year.
In 2018, there were 33 cases across all three countries. But in 2019, 11 cases were reported in Pakistan and 26 in Afghanistan. Indians are largely associated with these countries in the Gulf countries. The expert panel's assessment of the risk of infection has been reported from Pakistan for over ten years in countries such as Syria and Iraq. In the Philippines, which declared polio-free in 2000, the World Health Organization has been stunned by a three-year-old girl diagnosed with polio last year.
What is poliovirus?
A virus that once infected millions of people around the world. It is transmitted through the excretion of the patient. The stomach can reach the body and affect the nervous system and brain. Treatment cannot be cured. Resistance is effective. Children under the age of five are most affected.
There are three types of polio: Type I, II and III. By 2015, both Type Two and three viruses were eradicated from the world. The wild poliovirus type, which now infects the disease, is just one. In 1955, Jonas Salk made the vaccine by infecting the poliovirus. In 1963, Albert Sabin devised an oral polio vaccine to eliminate the viruses. The bivalent oral vaccine is now being administered.
