Sanjay Leela Bhansali film “Padmavathi” could disrupt law and order in Uttar Pradesh, requests Information and Broadcasting Ministry as the film allegedly depict distortion of facts.UP Govt. Stated that the public anger is high against the distortion of historical facts.This could lead to violence on 1st December, when the film is slated for release.The UP Govt says that it will be very difficult to contain the mob-frenzy with the limited resources, as Municipal elections are being held in the coming week, along with Barawafat Festival by groups of the Muslim community on 2nd December.
“Karni Sena”, self-proclaimed Rajput outfit leading the protest against the film, has decided not to allow the release of the film.they claim that the film depicts Padmavathi in a disrespectful manner.On the other hand, IFTDA, The Indian Film, and Television Directors’ Association, wrote to Home Minister to allow the release of the film on 1st December without any hitch.This is in the backdrop of agitators having issued threats to raze the cinema halls which screens “Padmavathi” on 1st December, provide protection to the team of artists and technicians.
Threat perceptions are there to the actor Deepika Padukone with physical harm if she continued to incite public sentiments.Ms. Padukone responded to the threat by asserting that nothing can stop the release of the film all over India.
The government of Maharashtra has promised to provide security Ms. Padukone and also to theaters which are screening Padmavathi,if needed.
Several represented from various organizations to Prime Minister have been sent urging to stop the release of the film.
Dia Mirza says hooligans threatening to hurt should be jailed, the fact that rogues continue to use film industry as a soft target to promote their dirty politics is appalling enough, what makes it worse is that they get away with it every time.
