Ockhi-water levels to rise in Kerala and Tamil Nadu

Indian Meteorological Department IMD forecasts heavy rainfall at isolated places in Kerala and Tamil Nadu during coming 24 hours, the after-effects of Ockhi cyclone.Present rainfall could trigger an upsurge in the water level of rivers in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.West- flowing rivers in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, and Alappuzha districts in Kerala were likely to rise in next 24 hours, then recede slowly as the rains stop.

"High flood alert" has been declared in Tamil Nadu as the water levels in rivers could rise, can only recede once ockhi's moves far away from south India.Papanasm and Manimutharu dams may get a heavy inflow of water in the coming days.Vagai river too is expected to receive heavy inflow, further increase the water level in Vagai dam soon.It also gives a green pasture to the agriculturists in both the states.
