Modicare- soon, to cost Exchequer 12,000 crores

Modicare-  health insurance coverage to every family in India up to Rs.5 lakhs, announced before the election code is implemented.

National Health Protection Scheme also know as Modicare, is going to be launched on 15th August 2018 or October 2nd, 2018, covering 10-crore poor families in India, costing the government around Rs.12,000 crores. 

Modi care is one of the worlds largest healthcare, will be launched,60 percent coming from the central government, balance forty percent comes from the state governments with a premium of Rs.1000-1200 annually to every family under a package up to Rs.5 lakh.

Initial funds of Rs.2000 crores has been kept aside in the budget 2018-19 for the National Health Protection Scheme to bring around 10 crore poor families into the scheme.

Just 1 percent additional education and health cess can provide the entire fund for the scheme said Vinod Kumar Paul, member Niti Aayog and the brain behind the scheme.

The scheme takes care of expenditure like hospitalization, secondary and tertiary care.This needs to connect between hospitals, state and central and private hospitals, modalities are in process either insurance scheme or on the reimbursing scheme or on trust formation, whichever. is good for the poor people without many hazels.

Amitabh Kant, CEO Niti Aayog asserted that the major problem lies in the implementation of the scheme, which needs to be meticulously planned. Funds will not be a problem as the center might have to take annual need of  Rs 5000 to 6000 crores, remaining 6000 crores comes from the states.
