British brand MG Motor, a subsidiary of Chinese auto giant SAIC (SAIC), has launched its fifth vehicle model in India.After Hector, Hector Plus, ZS EV and Gloucester, MG's fifth SUV is the Aster. Positioned below 4.6 m (4.6 m), the Aster will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Celtos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushak and Volkswagen Tigo SUVs.
The Aster is actually the petrol version of the ZS EV electric SUV. At the same time, MG Motor has tried to make the Aster different by making some styling improvements. Bookings for the MG Aster will start from the 21st of this month. MG Motor India plans to sell 5,000 units of Aster units this year at an initial price of Rs.
MG Aster is available in four variants: Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. Introductory prices range from Rs 9.78 lakh to Rs 16.78 lakh. The interior features a panoramic sunroof, heated ORVM, digital key, automatic climate control, rain - sensing wiper, 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 6-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, and leather upholstery.
What sets MG Aster apart from its rivals is the potential of Artificial Intelligence and Level 2 Autonomous Technology. Aster is equipped with a mid-range radar and a multi-purpose camera for the Level 2 autonomous system. Features Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC) and RD Drive Assist (RHD Assist). The MG Aster is available in two petrol engines.
