Kerala government has plans to provide free internet facilities to 20 lakh families who come under 'poor' category.
To achieve this, Kerala government is intending to set-up a joint venture company to have a new optic fibre pathway.
"Kerala Fibre Optic Network Limited will be formed to provide internet connections free of charges to 20 lakh poor families, at an affordable rate to public and government institutions", said Pinarayi Vijayan.
Kerala government has plans to add various government services through the internet facility and mobile phones without any interruptions. At the end of the day, there is a war between service providers in providing internet at law tariffs how far the scheme would be fruitful or received by the needy, it will be decided on the rate at which the Kerala government would provide the service.
