The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court Ernakulam, witnessed dramatic scenes when police arrested ‘Pulsar’ Suni, the main accused in the abduction of a Malayalam film star, minutes before he was to surrender at the Magistrate’s chamber, on Thursday.
Pulsar Suni made his appearance in the court during its lunch recess by jumping over a wall through a secret passageway covering his head with a helmet to dodge the police. He was accompanied by other accused Vijeesh who was also in hiding. They reportedly came in a motor bike hoodwinking the police personnel.
Amid news reports that the accused had been arrested inside the court premises, Ernakulam Range IG P Vijayan maintained that the accused was taken into custody by the police before his surrender. Both the accused were forcibly taken out of the court and dragged along the verandah and finally pushed into the police vehicle. The police took them to the Aluva Police Club for further questioning.
The State police had come under severe criticisms over its failure to trace the two accused in the case even after days after the crime was reported. Media reports suggested the involvement of certain other film actors. The actress was abducted on February 17 while travelling from Thrissur to Kochi by road. She was dumped near director turned actor Lal's house, from where the police were informed and her driver Martin was arrested
The incident has in fact exposed the crime nexus of the Malayalam film industry. The two main accused are known history sheeters, but have been in the employment of several big stars.
