FIFA decides to skip this year's The Best Awards. The awards were to be announced in September this year in Milan. FIFA has decided not to award the award as the world is in a state of fear.
FIFA said the decision was reached after football leagues in various countries were also suspended. From the very beginning of the outbreak, President Gianni Infantino made it clear that FIFA would only do so with caution and common sense.
Lionel Messi was the winner in 2019. With there being no winner, the Argentine will be the defending champion for another year, coming above Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2019.
FIFA also announced that it will not host the Under-20, Under-17 Women's and Futsal World Cups until February 2021. The only tournament that FIFA has not changed is the World Cup, to be held in Abu Dhabi in December.
In the meantime, however, there has been no final decision yet on the year of Ballon d'Or, which has been held every year since 1956.
