Soorya’s film festival has a selection of the best films in Indian languages. Inaugural film is Oru Njayarazcha by Shyamaprasad.
Oru Njayarazhcha is about two women - Suja and Sujatha who belong to an upper middle class family in Kerala. They have nearly everything and they live a leisurely life. Yet through cracks in the comfortable monotony of their lives, loneliness seeps in, time hangs heavy. It's the woman who tells her story, tosses out her arguments, critiques her life, clamours for individuality, asserts her sexuality, and generally knocks down her own moral compass by stepping into the morals of modernity. A movie like this is very much relevant in the contemporary scenario as it talks about the complex power structure and its dynamics.
The film features Dr Satheesh Kumar, Murali Chand, Sally Varma and Megha Thomas.
