Rang Mahal, a weavers’ organisation of West Bengal, is in the city with its annual Onam collection. The theme this year is ‘The designs you like at the prices you love’.
This year’s collection is a tribute to the people of Kerala and their never-say-die spirit that helped them overcome the devastation wrought by the flood last year. Flora and fauna, folk art, images of gods and goddesses, and geometric patterns feature as motifs on the saris and the colour palette varies from tango oranges and vermilion red to lavender and ivory white.
Besides jalchuris with contrasting borders, striking colour combinations and patterns in jamdanis and baluchars with embossed pallu, there will be block-printed-, hand painted- and buta-woven dress materials in rainbow colours at the sale.
