Kerala Government has raised the age limit to 23 years from 21 to buy liquor. Today's cabinet took this bold decision, which had LDF's concent earlier.

Former State Police Chief T P Senkumar
Former Director General of Police T P Senkumar, who was shifted as State Police Chief as soon as the Left Democratic Front Government, led by Pinarayi Vijayan assumed office, has decided to continue his legal battle for justice in the Supreme Court. Senkumar moved the apex court the other day against the verdict of the Kerala High Court, which had dismissed the petition against his summary removal before he completed his two-year term in office. Senkumar had been appointed as State Police Chief by the previous Oommen Chandy Government.

Karnataka Government on Friday beefed up security for Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is scheduled to participate in a Communal Harmony program being organized in Mangaluru (Mangalore) by his party, Communist Party of India (Marxist). The security has been beefed up in view of the threats by Viswa Hindu Parishad, an outfit of the Rashrtiya Swayamsevak Sangh to block him during his visit to the place when the organisation had called for a trade strike in the southern most district of Karnataka that borders Kerala’s Kasargod district.

Delivery of text books to school children will be carried out  well before the beggining of 2017-18 Acadamic year, Thanks to KBPS- Kerala Books and Publications Society, which has made it possible this year. KBPS having resource and capabilities with state of art printing units and technicaly known how trained men to undertake such tasks. More and more, has six units of printing machineries. It tooks 10 months to print Travanacore text books. Profit share of Rs.35 crores with just Rs.65 crores is quite remarkable.

Governor P Sathasivam has said that the Government will implement the Right to Internet to ensure that everyone has a certain amount of bandwidth to utilise online services through a single delivery gateway linking up databases of various departments.

The State Government will  clear infrastructure projects worth Rs. 10,000 crores ($ 150 B) by  the end of March. This was announced by Governor P Sathasivam while delivering his annual address to the State legislature on Thursday.  Sathasivam said the technical and IT infrastructure necessary for supporting  such a massive scale of infrastructure planning, design and execution was being put in place.Recruitment of technically qualified and managerial professional team is underway. The first batch of tenders for the projects was expected to go live in April 2017.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,  Feb 15: The Kerala cabinet on Wednesday  gave 'in-principle' approval for setting up a greenfield airport at Sabarimala to cater to lakhs of devotees who visit the famous Lord Ayyappa hill shrine every year.
In a significant order, that can have major repercussions in gender equality,the Kerala High Court has permitted employment of women in foreign liquor retail shops terming as "unsustainable" and "violative of the Constitution" the state's rules restraining women from such jobs. Such orders and rules "are violative of Article 14 and 15 of the Constitution and are therefore unsustainable", the court said in a recent order about the state government's Foreign Liquor Rules as well as a government order that women cannot be engaged to work in foreign liquor shops.
