There is a piece of good news for cricket lovers in the state capital.
NDA candidate Ram Nath Kovind has been elected the country's 14th president. Former governor of Bihar, Kovind (71), will be only the second Dalit leader after RK Narayanan since Independence to occupy India's highest ceremonial post.  In the final vote count, NDA nominee Kovind received 65.6 per cent votes translating into 702,044 electoral college votes, while UPA candidate Meira Kumar managed to get 34.35 per cent (367,314 votes).  According to reports, there was cross voting in UP, Gujarat and Goa during the elections, which resulted into Kovind's massive 2/3rd votes. 
Can punish firms not passing GST gains The National Anti-Profiteering Authority, to be set up under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, will have wide-ranging powers, including the power to issue notices to anybody that it feels warrants a “fair enquiry,” as per the rules finalised by the GST Council on Sunday. The powers of the Authority include the ability to order a reduction in prices, impose a penalty, and even cancel the registration of a company deemed to have not passed on a tax rate reduction to consumers.

The Federation of All India Petroleum Traders has written to Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informing him that there will be no sale or purchase by petrol pumps on June 16. LHI: HMD Global, the Finnish company that holds exclusive licence to manufacture Nokia-branded mobile phones, is all set to launch a new line-up of Androidsmartphones in India. The company has started sending out invites for a launch event scheduled to take place on June 13, where it will launch Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones. The invite reads, "Come let's join hands and welcome the new era of Nokia smartphones."
India and Spain on Wednesday stressed that there should be "zero tolerance" to terrorism and called on the international community to end "selective or partial" approaches in combating the menace which poses the gravest threat to international peace and stability. The prime minister held wide-ranging talks with President of the Spanish government Mariano Rajoy at the Moncloa Palace and invited Spanish firms to invest in India which offers "many opportunities" for them in various fields.
This year, monsoon has arrived two days before its scheduled date. The Southwest monsoon, which brings seasonal rain to the Indian subcontinent, hit southern Indian state of Kerala and the North East on Tuesday, two days before its normal onset date. Director General of the India Meteorological Department K J Ramesh said monsoon has also hit the North East, thanks to Cyclone Mora, which aided the advancement of the seasonal rainfall. The normal onset date for monsoon to hit the Kerala coast, which marks its official arrival in the country, is June 1.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Friday that the Class XII results (Senior School Certificate Examination) for 2017 for all CBSE regions would be declared on May 28 in the forenoon.
