The country has announced a complete lock-down to curb corona spread. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country. The curfew will be in effect from midnight tonight.
The scheme on Promotion of Medical Device Parks for financing Common Infrastructure Facilities in 04 Medical Device Parks with financial implications of Rs. 400 crore. The   Production   Linked   Incentive (PLI) Scheme   for   promoting   domestic manufacturing of medical devices with financial implications of Rs. 3,420 crore. The expenditure to be incurred for the above schemes will be for the next five years i.e. from 2020-21 to 2024-25.
Fastags will be made compulsory in the toll plazas of the country from Wednesday. There are concerns that this could lead to traffic congestion in many places. The fast-paced system will be launched in Kerala from 10 am onwards at toll plazas including Paliyakekara. Currently, there are 12 toll booths in Paliakkara.

The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed by the Rajya Sabha on July 31. To make roads safer, the Centre in consultation with State Transport Ministers came up with this Bill to amend the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017 was passed by the Lok Sabha on April 10, 2017, and was pending in the Rajya Sabha.

Three months after at least 20 lions in Gujarat succumbed to a virus, the Centre and the Gujarat government have announced a ₹97.85 crore Asiatic Lion Conservation Project at a press conference. A key outcome of the project is to have a dedicated veterinary institute, “lion ambulances”, and back-up stocks of vaccines that may be required. There are close to 600 lions in Gujarat, according to State forest officials at the meeting. However, there has been no move yet to translocate lions to a location outside Gujarat.
India’s latest communication satellite, GSAT-31 was successfully launched from the Spaceport in French Guiana during the early hours today. The launch vehicle Ariane 5 VA-247 lifted off from Kourou Launch Base, French Guiana at 2:31 am (IST) carrying India’s GSAT-31 and Saudi Geostationary Satellite 1/Hellas Sat 4 satellites, as scheduled.
