Kerala government has declared a holiday to the schools and the professional colleges in the entire state tomorrow the 1st December 2017 in lieu of heavy rains.Cyclonic storm is expected to be heavy, may have severe aftermath in the southern districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.The wind is expected to blow at about 75 kilometers, hence fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea for fishing.As of now, the cyclonic storm Ockhi is 60 kilometers away from Thiruvananthapuram.Five people have been killed by the storm so far. Damages like uprooting trees, landslides have occurred in the state.
The weather system in the Bay of Bengal has been brewing for quite some time now. After being a depression until yesterday, the weather system intensified into a deep depression.
The weather system is currently seen over Comorin area and adjoining region and has become a cyclonic storm Ockhi and may even intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours
When the system intensifies into a severe cyclone, it will have moved towards the Arabian Sea. Thus, heavy to very heavy rains are expected to continue over southern parts of Tamil Nadu as well as Kerala. However, the system will move away from the region, the intensity of rains will come down thereafter.
