The Indian Nursing Council has suggested that those who have passed Plus 2 in non-biology sciences should be given an opportunity to study for BSc and Nursing. The Council recommends that Science, Commerce, Humanities and Arts students with BSc degree in higher secondary level can study for BSc and Nursing.
Currently, the four-year B.Sc. Admission to Nursing. In addition, the Council has proposed a proposal to develop the infrastructure of nursing education. The Nursing Council has come up with a proposal in September 2019 to terminate the Nursing Diploma Course in General Nursing and Midwifery.
By 2021, the general nursing and midwifery course will be abolished. Currently, there are 3215 General Nursing Schools in the country.
