Coast Guard Academy- Kerala to loose

Stall the move to shift Coast Guard Acadamy, writes Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister to Prime minister Narendra Modi. There is a move to shift the allotted academy from Kannur in Kerala to Mangaluru in Karnataka. Kerala has allotted 164 acres of land for the establishment of the Coast Guard Academy, after spending Rs.65.64 crore for infrastructural facilities

Union Environment and Forest Ministry have declined the permission on the construction of buildings, as the allotted land is a thickly populated mangrove cultivation spread over vast area. However, Kerala government has pointed out that out of 164 acres, 50 acres of land is free from mangroves. Hence center should relook into the decision shifting, send a team to Kerala to find suitability in the 50 acres of land, free from mangroves. Kerala awaits center's response.
