FIFA decides to skip this year's The Best Awards. The awards were to be announced in September this year in Milan. FIFA has decided not to award the award as the world is in a state of fear. FIFA said the decision was reached after football leagues in various countries were also suspended. From the very beginning of the outbreak, President Gianni Infantino made it clear that FIFA would only do so with caution and common sense.
English all-rounder Ben Stokes won the Wisden Award for Best Cricketer of the Year following the ICC Player of the Year award. Stokes has been honored with outstanding performances in One Day World Cups and Ashes series. Wisden magazine named the Leading Cricketer of the Year. Stokes was also the recipient of the International Cricket Council's award. 
The Wimbledon tennis tournament was cancelled for the first time since World War II. The decision comes due to the coronavirus spreads. Wimbledon, the only grassroots tournament in Granslam, was to start on June 29.  The date of next year's tournament has also been announced. According to a post on Wimbledon's official website, the 2021 tournament will take place from June 28 to July 11. Wimbledon was previously cancelled during World War I and World War II. This was in 1914 and 1947.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics may be postponed due to the outbreak of Covid-19.  The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said Sunday that the governing body did not agree with the cancellation of the Olympics but that the decision to postpone the decision would be taken within four weeks.
India's most prestigious athlete PT Usha wins BBC Sports Award. She has been selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Indian sport. The award was given for meritorious acts. Badminton player PV Sindhu bagged the award for best athlete in India last year. The awards gave at a ceremony in Delhi on Sunday.
ICC Women's 20-20 World Cup India's Shafali Verma tops. The 16-year-old jumped 761 points in the T20I rankings released on Wednesday. New Zealand's Susie Bates is in the second position.  Shafali has been a great figure to the World Cup. The Indian opener has scored 161 runs in four matches. Shefali is only the second Indian to reach the top of the T20 batting rankings. Earlier, Mithali Raj was ranked number one.
Women's 20-20 World Cup Australian women in the semi-finals, the hosts beat New Zealand by four runs on Monday. Australia 155 for 5 in 20 overs; New Zealand 15 for 7 in 20 overs. Earlier, Group A of India and Group B of South Africa and England had reached the semi-finals. Australia lost the toss on Monday, Beth Mooney (60) scored a half-century. Meg Lanning (21), Ellis Perry (21) and Ashley Gardner (20) also contributed well.  Newzealand captain Skipper Sophie Devine (31), Katie Martin (37) and Maddie Green (28) struggled to win.
The ISL sixth season semifinals begin tomorrow. The first leg of the match will be played between the league winners FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Saturday. The current champions Bengaluru FC will clash with ATK at the Sreekandirava Stadium on Sunday. The second quarter will be on March 7 and 8. Fatorda Stadium and Salt Lake Stadium will witness these matches. The final is on March 14.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has won the Lawrence Award for the greatest sporting moment of the last 20 years. Sachin being carried on their shoulders by his teammates including current skipper Virat Kohli after India's historic win over Sri Lanka in the 2011 World Cup final was nominated for the best sporting moment category. The moment was titled 'Carried On the Shoulders of A Nation.'
