Continuing with our exploration of the Fort area, Heritage Walk Trivandrum invites you to join the 7th in the Fort Walk series planned on 27th August 2017, Sunday @ 7 am. We assemble at the Vettimuricha Kota Gate at 7 am and proceed to explore the Southern Street of the Fort area (the street along the South Nada of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple).
As you know, we began this Fort Walk series by exploring one quadrant of the West Fort area in August 2016. In the last 6 Walks, we have completed exploring most of the important locations and structures of heritage importance on the Western and Northern side of the core Fort area.
This coming Sunday we start exploring the structural and cultural heritage of the Southern side of Fort. We begin our Walk at the Vettimuricha Kota Gate. As marked in the attached Google map, some of the main areas and heritage structures and its related history that we plan to cover will be the Sanskrit school, Sree Chithira Thirunal statue and park, Cutcherry complex, location of old stables, walk along the Tippu Street or Agraharam area and end at the Thekkaetheruvu Malika.
Conservation architect, columnist, and an expert on our city's Fort Area history, Sharat Sunder Rajeev will lead the Walk. ArchaeologistHemachandran Sankara Pillai, Bina Thomas Tharakan, and senior journalist/historian Malayinkil Gopalkrishnan sir will also be present.
