BMW X1 Tech Edition launched in India

German luxury car maker BMW has launched the tech edition of its 2021 model X120i SUV in the Indian market. Rushline reports that the ex-showroom price of this model is Rs 43 lakh. The Tech Edition only comes in a petrol version

In design, this model bears a resemblance to other variants. Large single piece kidney grille, sleek sweptback LED headlamps and 18-inch alloy wheels will continue. Retained Rotary iDrive controller on center console. Other features of the Tech Edition include a new head-up display, wireless charging function and a new 205 watt hi-fi sound system.

The buttons on the dashboard, the analog instrument cluster, and the steering ring remained the same. Standard features such as panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting in six colors, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, recline seats in the rear with armrests in the middle, and wireless apple carplay.

The biggest improvement in the Tech Edition is the large 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen in the center. Other variants of the X1 SUV come with an 8.8-inch infotainment screen as standard. This is a bit small compared to rivals in the segment.

It is powered by a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. This motor produces a maximum power of 189 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed 'Steptronic Sport' automatic transmission. Transfers power to front wheels. Steering mounted paddle shifters and launch control are also available.

Safety features include six airbags, Attendance Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and Electric Parking brakes with auto hold. Available in two body color options, Alpine White and Phytonic Blue (Metallic), along with Sensetech Oyster Black Upholstery.

In March 2020, BMW will launch an updated version of the X1 in the Indian market.
