English all-rounder Ben Stokes won the Wisden Award for Best Cricketer of the Year following the ICC Player of the Year award.
Stokes has been honored with outstanding performances in One Day World Cups and Ashes series. Wisden magazine named the Leading Cricketer of the Year. Stokes was also the recipient of the International Cricket Council's award.
He was also named the best player in the World Cup Final. Stokes shocked the cricket world with an innings victory over England in the last Ashes series at Headingley. It is considered one of the best innings in Test history. Stokes is also the Wisden Award-winning Englishman after former player Andrew Flintoff. In 2005, Flintoff achieved the feat. Virat Kohli has won the award for the last three years.
