The world's leading online shopping website, Amazon Delivery, is turning to electric vehicles to reduce electric pollution. Amazon has announced that it will deliver 10,000 electric vehicles by 2025. A few vehicles were introduced last year as the first phase of the switch to electric vehicles. It will be launched in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur and Coimbatore this year.
Amazon is expected to deliver one million electric vehicles, including three-wheelers and four-wheelers by 2030. The company hopes to reduce its carbon footprint by four million metric tons per year. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his Twitter account with the purchase of e-vans.
Rivian electric vans will be in service from this year. Amazon aims to achieve the Paris Climate Summit ten years ago by eliminating carbon emissions altogether by 2040. Amazon is reportedly working with a few Indian companies to manufacture electric vehicles. The Government of India has formulated the FAME-2 electric vehicle policy to promote electric vehicles in India. The appraisal is expected to help Amazon.
