The Srilankan civil war, fight between the Liberation of Tigers of Tamil Eelam or LTTE and the Srilankan army has left deep wounds physically and psychologically, yet to heal even after a decade.They fought to for an Independent state for Tamil speaking people went to Srilanka from centuries ago, carve out a state as Tamil Eelam in northern Srilanka they were populated in the north.
The insurgency began in 1983 by the Tamils, lead to a civil war against Srilankan government. The long-drawn civil war ended in 2009, around 1,00,000 people lost their lives. The civil war caused untold miseries to many thousands, the testimony to the sufferings of countless are frozen moments of pain the world has not seen but it could be imagined. The heart-breaking moans of those hapless caught between the devil and deep sea during the civil war and post-war were captured by the famous war- photographer-journalist-SOUNTHIYAS AMARADAS, a Srilankan National of Tamil origin, has 30,000 frozen moments of agony and anguish of the people who surrendered meekly, left to their fate. Amaradas who as an eyewitness to bombs and the killing of his own brother, kith and kin by the Srilankan army.
They were orphaned, struggled to live and separated. Amaradas one among several who witnessed the brutal attacks of Srilankan army, bombarded ruthlessly, Sounthiyas Amardas captured the chilling visuals of people running away for their life with belongings, pathetic face of a girl profusely bleeding and many such visuals had to escaped after years of struggle for the cause a separate state for Tamilians, sought refuge in Switzerland, presently lives as a refugee along with others. His ultimate aim is to produce a film based on the real story he saw, a witnessed to the war -crimes. His voice never tumbled, even once, even while screening the photograph of his brother wounded by a shell, tieing a sling on the injured hand, took photographs of the wounded brother, took him to the hospital, ultimately death separated him and his brother. This could the central theme of the film, which according to him, could bring the truth before the world for wider-acceptance of the world, as he has several visual proofs to prove his pathetic tale.He has still photographs which the world has not seen so far.
