IFFK-2017 to begin with a homage to those deceased in the very recent aftermath of Ockhi in Kerala. Even though it has dampened the spirits of the people, with many grappling with realities bringing unforeseen changes in their life. showing honest regards to all those who have affected by the Ockhi, Kerala Government, rightly canceled otherwise planned gala-opening to Kerala's tradition.
The highlight of the festival is to bring contemporary world cinema, new Malayalam Cinema, Retrospectives of Major filmmakers, Homage and tributes. Other than this, contemporary Indian cinema, short films, and documentaries will be screened during the festival. Film markets, seminars on topics concerned with cinema, open house discussions are part of the festival.
Keralites was known as art-lovers, cinema has been and shall remain the popular art form, a connect between art-life-fiction reality and common-man. Truth is the immense public support every year is on the increase, making a venue for the IFFK.
