Voter awareness through different methods; parliamentary polls 2019.

The District SVEEP Committee is trying to create voter awareness through different methods such as jingles on the radio, kite festival, writing postcards by students of pre-matriculation and post-matriculation hostels to their parents and relatives asking them to vote, now a wedding invitation too is doing the same in Udupi district.

It is a special kind of invitation — it focusses on the importance of 2019 parliamentary polls. This is the invitation for the wedding of Ganesh Kumar Padukone  and Purnima to be held at Tallur Partikatte near Kundapur in Udupi district on May 1, 2019.

The back of their marriage invitationis with the message of the festival of democracy is imprinted. It attracts the attention of people with the following words in Kundagannada, “Onchur Ilkani” (Please look here once). The following sentences are printed in Kannada at the bottom of the invitation: “Do vote and ensure victory for democracy.” “We are not for sale. Our vote is not for sale."

The invitation promises a special gift for those who vote in the 2019 parliamentary elections. It says, “Those who vote in the present parliamentary elections, including family members, relatives and friends, would get books worth Rs. 250 for free. But you should show the indelible ink on your finger for having voted.

Besides this, a book exhibition, a cartoon exhibition and an exhibition of old folk items would be held at the venue of the wedding on that day.
