Jatayuppara; The beautiful world of adventure...

Jatayuppara in Kollam district is a tremendous tourist attraction. Jatayu's sculpture on a thousand feet high rock is the world's largest bird sculpture. Filmmaker and sculptor Rajiv Anchal is the creator of this curiosity.

Jatayu Earth’s Center, also known as Jatayu Nature Park is a tourism centre at Chadayamangalam in Kollam district of Kerala. It stands at an altitude of 350m (1200ft) above mean sea level. Jatayu Nature Park is holding the distinction of having the world’s largest bird sculpture (200 feet (61 m) long, 150 feet (46 m) broad, 70 feet (21 m) in height and having 15,000 square feet (1,400 m2) of floor area) of the great bird Jatayu.

The park opened to visitors on 4 July 2018 and was soft-inaugurated by Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala. The park's first phase was worth 100 crore rupees and included the adventure zone having 3 km (1.9 mi) radius.

Jadayu sculpture is the dream of Rajiv Anchal, a sculptor. The interior of the statue is modeled after a multi-storey building. Its walls are large screens. Sita's story is shown in a 6D image with a massive screen theatre. On the third floor, you can see the beauty of the hill country at a 360 degree angle.

The Jatayu sculpture is the shape of the wounded left wing and the right wing, which is spread out with hooks and toes. It looks like a sculpture from the outside and looks like a great movie theater. As you drive through Chadayamangalam, you can see the side of the rock sculpture.

In Ramayana Ravana  abducted  sita to  Lanka. Jatayu had tried to rescue Sita from Ravana. Jatayu fought valiantly with Ravana, but as Jatayu was very old Ravana soon got the better of him.  Rama and Lakshmana while on the search for Sita chanced upon the stricken and dying Jatayu, who informs them of the fight between him and Ravana and tells them that Ravana had headed South. It is believed that Jatayu fell on the rocks in Chadayamangalam after his wings were clipped by Ravana.

Chadayamangalam is a forest of huge black rocks. Legend has that Jatayu's hook made the hole in the tallest rock in the meantime. It is believed that the footprint of the foot resting on the top of the rock is the touch of Sri Rama.

The forest area that once belonged to the Jatayapara region was a place where no one wanted. Within ten years of building the sculpture, it became an adventure park. The park has all the amazing curiosities. The Jatayu Adventure Center features 20 types of entertainment, starting with free climbing and ending with a paintball, tenting on the top of the mountain. Besides all these exclusive experiences, the place also has provision for Ayurveda, camping, trekking, live kitchen and a lot more to make your trip splendid.

The day tour package is a great way to go down the hill after visiting the sculpture. Only four hundred are allowed in a day. There are tents for those interested in enjoying the cool and breezy ride of the Jatayapura. Overnight camps are available with the facility of restaurant on top of the rock. You can even have a hele-taxi experience from here!

Chadayamangalam is located in Kollam district on the Thiruvananthapuram route. You can reach the entrance by walking 500 meters from the town.  Jatayu Earth's Centre tickets can be bought from the ticket office on arrival or you can purchase tickets online in advance.
