Cinema houses protest 'No - show' on FRIDAY

5000 cinema theatres in south India including Kerala will not screen a film on Friday the 1st March as a protest by the theater owners and film distributors who want a reduction in virtual print fee VPF, against reducing advertisement time during the screening of feature films.

The practice as of now is almost 30 minutes of advertisements before and during the interval time of the screening. The revenue  from these advertisements is taken away by the digital providers, leaving distributors and theatre owners high and dry. Having invested huge amount for up gradation of technology(digital), we are entitled to a share in the revenue from the screening of advertisements.

Whereas it will be token support strike for a day in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have declared indefinite strike from 1st March,2018.
