Bus fares go up-Rs.8 minimum charges

Kerala government has at last revised the bus fares after pressure from private bus owner's threat to go on indefinite strike stopping the services. Minimum fares are Rs. 8, Rs.11 in ordinary and fast passenger services with effect from 1st March 2018. Per kilometer, charges go up from 63 paise to 70 in ordinary services.

Minimum charges are Rs.15 for executive and super express; Rs.22 for super deluxe, Rs.44 for high tech luxury A/C, Rs.45 for Volvo services.Justice S Ramachandran panel had recommended revision of bus fare to Rs.8/- against Rs.10/- from the bus owners associations.

The private bus owners have not taken the hike happily, insist that minimum fare has to be Rs.10/- with the revision of concessional fares to students otherwise, they may stick to their plans to go on strike.
